What We Believe

Healthcare is a human rights issue ~ It should not be limited only to those who can afford it.

Healthcare is a moral issue ~ Sacred texts teach us that we are to help “the least of these” among us.

Healthcare is a kitchen table finances issue ~ Families are suffering from rising health care costs (premiums, co-pays, deductibles, etc.), and those costs are increasing much faster than their incomes.

Healthcare is a business issue ~ Businesses are stretched trying to afford health care for their employees while competing in the marketplace.

THE SOLUTION IS “MEDICARE  FOR  ALL”

The solution is to provide health care to all Americans through a national health insurance program – one that is modeled after Medicare (our cost efficient and effective health care system which covers every American age 65+).

An improved and expanded Medicare-for-all system (also called single payer) covers Americans from birth to death, no matter what their health or employment status. All medically necessary care is covered. It’s privately delivered and patients have unlimited choice of doctors and hospitals.

By taking the profit out of health care (removing private insurance companies), we save $400 billion per year – and are in a much better position to control future costs.

Every American deserves peace of mind knowing they will be helped in their time of need, and won’t face financial ruin due to health care bills.

Americans care about one another. That is the character of our great country. We’ve seen this from the beginning … from circling the wagons against harm, to barn raisings, to breakthrough programs like Social Security and Medicare. We’re in this together and it only makes sense to share the risks and benefits with one another.

Everybody in. Nobody out.

The practical, moral solution for America is an expanded and improved Medicare-for-all health care system.

The other options being discussed are thinly veiled handouts for the medical/insurance/drug industry.
