Many Americans had hopes that Congress would pass healthcare legislation with at least a first step towards real health care reform. Unfortunately, the new law does not provide the pathway we need. Not only does it leave 23 million uninsured, but even the provisions that look good will fail — because of the continued involvement of private insurance corporations.
Come hear how insurers will continue to deny care and raise costs under the new law, putting both our nation’s health and our economy at risk. We’ll also tell you about a better approach: an improved and expanded Medicare for All.

North Alabama Healthcare for All is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization promoting an improved “Medicare for All” type healthcare system to everyone from birth to death. This system would be universal, not-for-profit, and publicly financed, while offering comprehensive health care and free choice of providers. (This is also called universal Single Payer healthcare, government-funded healthcare, or national health insurance.) We believe healthcare is a human right and that no one should be denied healthcare due to a lack of insurance or inability to pay. We are a chapter of the national organization Physicians for a National Health Program. Like our parent group, we are not just physicians — membership is open to anyone. NAHA is a member of the state coalition called Healthcare for Everyone–Alabama.
